Vegans, strict vegetarians, partial vegetarians, omnivores: Do they differ in food choice motives, coping, and quality of life?

Food choice motives vary according to the type of diet (omnivore or vegetarian). Symptoms disordered eating are not directly associated with vegetarianism veganism. Vegans have better health indicators than omnivores. Few studies examined differences in food motivations and disorders different types vegetarian diets (i.e., partial, strict, vegan), even though these characterized by varying degrees selectivity. In addition, few evaluated quality life those following diets, none assessed coping strategies vegetarians. The objective this study is, thus, compare factors influencing choices, disorders, preferred strategies, diets. sample included 589 adults (83.4% female—mean age = 32 years), whom 36% were omnivores, 23% partial vegetarians, 19% strict 22% vegans. Participants recruited mainly through social networking completed a self-administered questionnaire covering their sociodemographic characteristics, (FCQ), (EAT-26), (Brief COPE), (WHOQOL-BREF).
